I’m about to start my last day in the studio! I had my first February 2nd, so it has been a while you could say. I know I might have to a day of recalls (minor adjustments) and there is mastering too, but this is pretty much it. Today the record will be complete. Throughout the mix, I have redone a couple of vocal things that needed it and I had some keyboard and piano ideas that I have added. It is funny how it takes longer when you try and balance a mix without doing much to the sound. I am very proud and I sincerly hope you will like it. Look forward to meeting the rest of the band at Download and we’ll keep you posted as things unfold. Have a good weekend everyone.

While the rest of the band is back home preparing for Download, I’m at Studio X mixing. This long journey is its final stage and it feels good. We’re not doing anything crazy really. It is a good sounding record on tape and I want it to be unprocessed and pretty much capture the character of the original sound. From time to time we mess around with some old school plate reverbs, tape delay and vintage outboard gear, but it is mostly about finding a healthy balance. It is a very detailed record, so there is plenty to do! I am really pleased with the way it sounds and I am enjoying my time in the studio.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Metalfest in Plzen and Beastival in Geiselwind. The latter being a show where the locals did nothing to help us put on a good show from a technical point of view. Sorry about that, but that’s live.

We’ll try to get one more post from the studio before Download. Have a good weekend.
